Taikang Lu – Art Precinct

When you arrive at Shanghai’s Art Street, you will notice a group of tiny art shops offering anything from paintings to traditional Chinese wood carvings and antiques dating back to the Qing Dynasty.

Without the facades that come with international art districts, in fact, Taikang Lu is more like a slice of real China, with ubiquitous bikes, food hawkers and pajama clad pedestrians. The heart and soul of Taikang Lu lies in lane 210. Follow the RED dot sign into the lane where you can peruse through various art studios. Then take a left into the International artist’s factory where creative designers, photographers, home decoration and retail shops are nestled together in one building. Once you have taken in the bohemian rhapsody, take a break and wander into the Kommune for the dress material in town.
