Oriental Musical Instrument Museum
Located on the grounds of the Shanghai Music Conservatory, this new museum has a fascinating collection of musical instruments seldom seen in the world.

There are four main exhibits covering the instruments of ancient China, the modern Chinese musical instruments o Chinas ethnic minorities such as the Zhuang, the Miao, the Uighur, and the Mongolian nationalities’, and the folk instruments from around the world.

The highlights are undoubtedly the ancient pieces, which range from and 8,000-year-old bone flute to the rare five-stringed Pi Pa of the Tang Dynasty(618-907) and the 25-stringed plucked zither of the Ming Dynasty(1368-1644).
